Choose a 7-night cruise on the Mekong River taking you through chic modern cities, past small villages, and into areas where nature is in full bloom. You will travel by land from “all about business” Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) in Vietnam to the dock at My Tho (or from Siem Reap, Cambodia depending on your departure dates), on the bustling Mekong River. For departures beginning in Saigon, your river journey will take you through Vietnam all the way to Moat Kla, a remote fishing village in Cambodia, known for its graceful floating houses, and on to Siem Reap. Along the way you will have the chance to visit family homes and local markets, bicycle through charming landscapes, glide through flooded forests by tender, experience the serenity of Buddhist monasteries, explore local markets and much more. You may travel by sampan through a flooded forest or visit a Buddhist monastery, shop for Khmer pottery in Cambodia, and enjoy a city tour in Phnom Penh. You may also book this journey in reverse and start in Siem Reap, Cambodia and travel to Saigon in Vietnam.
If you wish to explore Vietnam and/or Cambodia further, we will assist you in booking optional pre- and post-trips to such places as Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, the nearby city of Siem Reap or the beaches of Sihanoukville. Another option, visiting Vietnam’s lovely, French-influenced city of Hanoi, with its Ho Chi Minh home, famed water puppets, and the site of the infamous “Hanoi Hilton.” You might also choose to add on a stop at Vietnam’s Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Center with a spectacular limestone pillars rising from the sea, or to spend time in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) before or after your cruise.
