Celebrating Mothers: A Supervisor and A Single Mom
Chantrea Im is our Dining Supervisor on the Aqua Mekong and the mother of two girls, Bong E (4 years old) and Oy who is 2 years old. She always wears a smile, loves a good laugh and is someone you will never forget after your cruise on the Aqua Mekong.
Motherhood means providing unconditional love and care to my children and providing a loving and safe home for them. To teach them right from wrong, to be supportive, protective and a good role model for them.
Like all mothers, being a mother is a full time job. Working as well does make it difficult and being on the ship means I am away from home a lot, so I miss seeing my children daily which is not easy. But this way I am able to give them a better life and a good future, I must do my best to provide for them.
Although my job takes me away from my children it also means that when I have my break, the time I get to spend with them is solid and quality. I cannot wait until I get a break and return home to see them.
We spend our time having fun together. I take them to their favorite places, make their favorite food, teach them things and try to give them new experiences to make this time memorable for them.
When I return to work, it is difficult for them and me but it is necessary. I miss them so much but I just try to focus on the guests and providing them with the best service.
We are a family on board the Aqua Mekong and we all support each other as much as we can so it is good.
I am proud of my work, I am proud of my team and I am proud of the ship. Aqua is a good company and I want every guest to have a wonderful time and leave with great memories of the crew and the boat. Every day I learn new things, about teamwork and respect, about listening, about caring and building friendships, about trying new things and always challenging myself and having new ideas. These are all things I want my children to do. Especially about listening, being respectful, caring for others and always trying their best, these are things I have learnt on board and I teach my children.
We must always be honest, respectful and helpful to others that need it.
