Wildlife Preservation in the Pacaya Samiria Nature Reserve

Aqua Expeditions’ is committed to supporting the sustainable management of natural resources in the Amazon. As part of this, we have recently begun working with the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve headquarters to assist them with the conservation and management of the Taricaya turtle population.

Working under the reserve’s guidelines, we have built an artificial beach at Aqua Expeditions’ embarkation lounge in Nauta that will be able to incubate Taricaya eggs donated by the reserve and help the conservation of this rare species. We hope to involve our guests as much as possible and look forward to keeping you updated on the progress of the project.

For now, here are a few images of the building process…
