What to Pack for a Mekong Cruise

Life is casual on board the Aqua Mekong. During meals in the dining room, we invite our guests to dress casually and ask you to please wear shoes.

We recommend you to bring the following items:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Quick drying and lightweight clothing
  • Lightweight long pants
  • Lightweight rain gear
  • Long-sleeved tops
  • Wide-brimmed hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Mosquito repellant
  • Your camera! With charger, extra batteries and memory cards
  • Bathing suit

Aqua Expeditions provides the following on board:

  • Waterproof ponchos with hoods to protect against rain
  • A hairdryer in every suite
  • Our vessels have 220-volt outlets in the staterooms
  • Binoculars 8×12

Important Notes:

When we disembark for excursions to Buddhist temples and monasteries, please dress respectfully, with long pants for men and covering shoulders, arms and knees for women.

You may wish to include some items to share with people you meet along your Mekong journey (t-shirts, pens and paper are especially prized).

Finally, we allow you to bring as much luggage on your Vietnam river cruise as you like, but suggest the use of soft suitcases/bags for easy storage in your suite. How much you bring, however, may be determined by the airlines, which have limits on both checked and carry-on baggage. SilkAir and Bangkok Airways for example, allow 20 kilos (44 pounds) of checked luggage and up to 7 kilos (15 pounds) of carry-on baggage in Economy Class
